October 30, 2009 GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina got to work on Virginia Tech this week and as preparations continue, attention to detail will be a big factor when the Hokies roll into town for an ESPN Thursday night game in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.East Carolina came away with a 27-22 victory over the Hokies in Charlotte in the opening game of the 2008 season and the Pirates will be looking to validate that victory. For Frank Beamer and Virginia Tech, it will be the second of two Thursday night ESPN games as the Hokies look to rebound from a close three point loss to North Carolina in Blacksburg on Thursday. Virginia Tech leads the all-time series between the two schools at 9-5. ECU is 1-1 vs the Hokies so far in the Skip Holtz era. "Pretty focused workout today and everybody had a chance to sit down and watch that game on TV last night and understand the challenge that we face and it will be a great challenge to play a great Virginia Tech football team." Holtz talked about the practice schedule so far for Virginia Tech week and what happens next. "Wednesday we gave them the day off, Thursday we gave them kind of a lift and work type of situation where it gave them a chance to get the soreness out," said Holtz, "Two great defenses out there and we'll learn a lot more off the film and for this weekend we'll spend a lot more time game planning and practice tomorrow afternoon and after a little more game planning we'll practice again on Sunday" Pirate Head Coach Skip Holtz reviews the day's work and gives PirateIllustrated.com a glimpse of what we can expect next week in this post practice report where Skip recaps the Memphis win for PI-TV. |
