ECU Rounding Into Shape
Monday's two-a-day leaves the team with less than 10 camp workouts left before they revert to the regular season practice schedule.
Ruffin McNeill says he likes how both units as a whole are doing with a lot of guys stepping up.
Temperatures only in the 80's this week offers an opportunity to get focused on the task at hand. East Carolina is working very hard in this fall camp as they did all summer under strength coach Jeff Connors.
McNeill says there are a few bumps and bruises, but his team will be ready. For now, there is still additional progress to be made first. A steady diet of fundamentals remain on the plate in this East Carolina fall camp in preparation for South Carolina and game one on September 3rd in Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium. It has been a regular football clinic of sorts for the Pirates.
The defense seems to be happy in adjusting fast to the new 3 man front defense that will give them more ability to disguise coverages and packages and a little more freedom schematically.
Quite a healthy battle going on a the running back position where Torrence Hunt is working hard for playing time against junior college transfer Reggie Bullock, Alex Owah and Michael Dobson too.
Running back Damonte Terry recently decided to take his chances elsewhere, so that takes one back out of the mix.
Just three weeks of practice remain before the season begins.
