Akeem Richmond Named C-USA Player of the Week
IRVING, Texas --- East Carolina junior guard Akeem Richmond has been named the Conference USA Player-of-the-Week by a media panel representing the 12 member schools. Richmond averaged 23 points and 3.0 rebounds, while shooting 56-percent (14-of-25) from the 3-point line in helping the Pirates to a pair of road wins last week. This is his first career C-USA Player-of-the-Week honor.

He scored a career-high 29 points Saturday against SMU, draining an ECU record nine 3-pointers. The nine 3-pointers were also a Moody Coliseum record, an SMU opponent record and tied the C-USA record for most 3-pointers in a conference game. His performance from behind the arc marked the 3s in a game most by a C-USA player this season and tied for the second-most 3-pointers made off the bench by a Division I player this season.
Richmond outscored SMU alone, 15-3 over a 2:34 stretch in the second half, making five straight 3-pointers. He scored 21 of ECU's 23 points during a 6:30 stretch in the second half and went 7-of-10 behind the arc in the second half.
Richmond also led ECU to its first win at Tulsa, hitting the go-ahead basket with 5:01 remaining. He sank 5-of-11 3s against the Golden Hurricane.
He ranks fifth in NCAA Division I in 3-point field goal percentage (.451) and 15th in 3-point field goals made per game (3.0). Richmond is also averaging a league-best 3.5 3-pointers per game in conference games.
