ECU Slips Past Mount Olive

GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina held off Mount Olive College late for a 77-75 win in Minges Coliseum Sunday afternoon for their eighth win of the season.
Akeem Richmond led the Pirates in scoring for ECU(8-2) with 16 points despite 2-12 shooting from the floor and only hitting 1 of 10 from the arc. Antonio Robinson added 15, Brandon Stith scored 13 points and pulled down nine boards while Caleb White contributed with 12 points.
Dontrell Brite put on a show for Mount Olive scoring 30 points before fouling out in the last minute of the game. Kendall Hargrove added 14 points and 10 rebounds
while Dominique Reed scored 12 points and 9 boards.
After falling behind by as much as ten points in the first period, Mount Olive led 39-38 at halftime.
In a game with 15 lead changes, Roberts-Campbell hit a free throw with 39 seconds to play to give ECU a one point lead. Antonio Robinson was fouled by Dontrell Bright to foul out. He sank one of two free throws with six seconds to play for ECU and Brandon Stith blocked a Dory Hines shot attempt for Mount Olive with one second to go in the game to seal the victory.
The Pirates hit 43 percent from the floor but only 2 of 16 from three-point range for 12.5 percent. But they got 28 points from the bench and 20 points off Mt. Olive turnovers despite giving up 38 points in the paint to the smaller Trojans.
Mount Olive hit 44.3 percent from the floor including 6 of 17 from the arc and canned 15 of 20 from the charity stripe in the loss. ECU got to the foul line more frequently, hitting 31 of 46 for 67.4 percent.
