Rio Johnson's 49-yard TD bomb to Lance Lewis and a 38-yard run by sophomore Michael Dobson highlighted the early action.
Rio Johnson, Dominique Davis, Brad Wornick Shane Carden combined to go 34-of-45 for 340 yards while linebacker Chris Baker recorded two sacks for a loss of 15 yards for the defense.
All told ECU tossed up 45 passes, had 34 rushes and 441 yards of total offense (5.6 yards per play).
Lance Lewis caught two touchdowns and junior college transfer running back Reggie Bullock scored on a 50 yard scamper on fourth-and-one in the first half of action.
Damon Magazu and end Matt Milner tied for the lead with five tackles each, all part of five sacks (-34 yards) and four pass breakups from the ECU defense on Saturday.
Coach McNeill talked about it after the camp's second full 100 play scrimmage that leads up to Meet the Pirates night tonight in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium between 6pm and 8pm.
"I thought we did some really good things again today. The scrimmage had big plays on both sides of the ball," said McNeill, "The offense did some special things with long plays and the defense came up with big stops to create turnovers on downs. I am anxious to watch the film and see where we are."
Lewis had 82 yards in receiving led the way. Inside receiver Justin Jones caught five passes for 65 yards to lead all ECU receivers. Inside receiver Danny Webster Mike Dobson each caught three passes with outside receiver Mike Price picking up 30 yards on two catches The 17-member receiving corps averaged exactly ten yards per catch according to ECU.
Michael Barbour hit all three points after touchdowns and made two of three field-goal attempts from 41 and 22-yards and missing wide right from 52 yards away.
ECU head coach Ruffin McNeill will go through a mock game week next week where Monday equals Sunday. The real game week comes in just over one week where positions will have to be solidified and the game plan installed for the Gamecocks.
"It's pretty consistent," McNeill talked about his objectives for Saturday's second scrimmage. "I want to make sure we play hard and smart. We have to take care of the football and continue to compete. I was pleased with all those aspects today."
