Godwin Talks Baseball

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The 2013 East Carolina Baseball Media Day is in the books and with that came comments from Coach Billy Godwin and his assistant coaches.
It's new grass on the field, so to speak, for the Pirates who went 36-24 last season, making it to the NCAA Regionals in Chapel Hill. ECU fell to North Carolina after beating Cornell in regional play. ECU was 13-10 in Conference USA in 2012.

East Carolina plays a solid schedule. The Pirates open the season on February 15th with a three game home set against Virginia. On the 19th they host Campbell before Illinois, Boston College, New Mexico State and Ohio U. come to Greenville for the Keith LeClair Classic.
The Conference USA season opens in Houston on March 22 where the Pirates will play a three game weekend series. Home and home series with Elon and UNC-Wilmington make for a pretty traditional schedule.
East Carolina plays 17 of their first 18 games in the comfortable confines of Clark-LeClair Stadium and return nine seniors to this year's ballclub.
St. John's will be in Greenville for a weekend series and the Pirates host N.C. State in early April as well as traveling to Raleigh a week later.
The Pirates have made 26 appearances in the NCAA postseason with their last super regional appearance coming in 2009.
