The team came out in helmets and no pads with a lot of emphasis on special teams work in the early portion of the practice. A good bit of skeleton stuff in the ladder stages of the practice that was mostly a bit of a walk through.
Ruffin McNeill talked about Monday practice and the schedule ahead where ECU moves back to afternoon action after a day off tomorrow which is essentially a mock game week Sunday.
"We're trying to duplicate an actual game week. Today was Sunday, tomorrow is like Monday where we are off."
McNeill says he sees progress from the first of camp and saw even more during last Saturday's final scrimmage of this year's ECU fall camp.
"I saw fundamental improvement, schematic execution on offense and I saw the defense do some good things fundamentally and schematically. Really good Saturday, last scrimmage. From here on out, it will be more scout team oriented."
McNeill announced Monday that junior transfer defensive end John Lattimore will miss the entire 2011 season because of a right lower leg injury suffered during practice last Friday. He will have two years of eligibility remaining when he is expected to be cleared to return next spring or summer.
In addition, sophomore inside receiver Justin Jones will be out indefinitely after injuring his left knee during Saturday's scrimmage at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
