Braden River Pirate duel-threat quarterback Bryan Gagg has made his commitment to play college football at ECU.

Bradenton, Florida quarterback Bryan Gagg may be the prototypical ECU quarterback prospect.

Gagg made his way to Greenville this weekend to check out the university and the facilities and coaches. He came away impressed and ready to commit. So he did.

"We got up there Friday night and stayed in a hotel. Then this morning we toured the school a little bit and went to the spring game. I talked to all the coaches. It was a great visit," Gagg told PirateIllustrated.com on his way home to Florida.

"I sat down in Coach Mo's office and let him know. There was a lot of the staff there on the way out. He was happy for me to be onboard and I said I was happy to be onboard too."

"I'm going to shut down my recruitment and I'm not going to talk to any other colleges," said Gagg, "I'm probably going to come up for an official (visit), I want to say for the North Carolina game but I'm not positive yet. And I'll come up for one of their camps and I'll work out for them."

The 6-3 , 205 pro-style signal caller connected on 128 of 188 pass attempts for 2,252 yards and 28 touchdowns against just five interceptions for a Braden River team that went 9-2 for Coach Curt Bradley’s Pirates.

The Rivals.com three-star has received attention from several schools in the immediate area including North Carolina, South Carolina and N.C. State but ECU was willing to make an offer and that was big for the Florida product.

Coach Keith Gaither started the recruiting process along with Coach Montgomery then quarterback coach Tony Petersen who is also ECU's offensive coordinator has gotten involved as well.

"I told them that one of the biggest things for me was that they had super nice facilities and that the coaches were great people who made me feel at home."

Gagg had an opportunity to visit the 60 million dollars worth of construction that is well underway that will eventually put a three story structure above the top of the stadium to include new club, press and student athlete facilities in place for the football program and also add another 1,000 seats to the already 50,000 seat Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.

"We took a tour of the construction site and they kind of showed us what they are planning to put up. Then they showed me a video," Gagg told PI, "They put together an animated video of what it will look like when it's done and it was like ridiculous and super nice."

"Everything else is already super nice. Once they get the locker rooms finished in the sports medicine building, it's going to be great."

He said he got a good reception from people in town when he went out to dinner Friday night wearing ECU gear and he's looking forward to his next trip to Greenville.
