Tyree Owens reports that he will be taking his talents to play for the Pirates of East Carolina.

The Pirates picked up a verbal commitment on Sunday from 6-5, 280 pound defensive lineman Tyree Owens out of Copiah-Lincoln C.C.

Owens visited Greenville over the weekend and made his commitment on Sunday.

"It's been a long recruiting process but I'm blessed to say that I will be attending East Carolina University. Go Pirates!," Owens reported.

Originally out of Oviedo, Florida, Owens landed at West Virginia out of high school but when that didn't work out he ended up at Copiah-Lincoln C.C. who went 7-2 this past season.

He originally committed to Texas A&M in October and had offers from Southern Miss, Houston, Kentucky, UCF, USC, South Carolina and Mississippi State among many others.
