Borders & Proehl Add to Class of 2017 Pirate Receiver Corp

The Pirates have picked up their third commitment this week and the second pledge of the day in Rivals.com three-star ranked Jayden Borders.

Borders, who was part of a state championship last season, also held offers from Miami of Ohio, Georgia State and Appalachian State. He haulted in 93 catches for 1,732 yards and scored 26 touchdowns last year.

East Carolina also picked up a verbal commitment from Charlotte (NC) Providence wide receiver Blake Proehl who tweeted his pledge in the last hour..

“After much consideration and prayer, I have officially decided to commit to East Carolina University #pirates17.”

Proehl stands 6-1, 165 pounds and sports 4.51 speed. He had 22 catches for 326 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a triple option type offense last season. Providence went 5-7last year.

Charlotte, Florida International, Mercer, Elon and Georgia State have also offered Proehl.

With the two additions, ECU has moved to twelve commitments for the class of 2017.
