East Carolina picked up a junior college commitment from Jones County Junior College inside linebacker Cannon Gibbs after a visit last Saturday for the ECU - Connecticut game.
The 6-2, 215 pounder is originally out of Northwest Rankin High in Flowood, Mississippi. He is the third junior college pledgee of this recruiting year.
Gibbs led the Bobcat defense with 68 tackles of which 40 were solo tackles. He also had one fumble recovery and eleven tackles for losses including six sacks in nine games.
Jones County Junior College had a 6-3 overall football record in 2016.
With the addition of Gibbs who will enter in January, the Pirates currently stand at 19 commitments for the class of 2017.
Gibbs, who was ranked two-star out of high school by Rivals.com, held two other offers including one from Louisiana-Monroe who also offered him out of high school.
He also held an offer from Louisiana Tech who is coached by former ECU head coach Skip Holtz.
Deke Adams and Ryan Anderson are the recruiting coaches of record in Gibbs’ ECU recruitment.
