The Pirates picked up a late entry when former Louisville 2016 commit James DeMatto decided to move over to East Carolina after leaving the Cardinals program before the 2016 season started.

Truly blessed to say I am committed to the East Carolina University to play football!!💯🏈#ECU @GeepWade, DeMatto said on Monday after a visit to ECU.

The 6-4, 295 center is originally out of Kell High in Marietta, Georgia.

He was a Rivals 3-star in 2016 where ECU was among those to offer along with Syracuse, Tulane, Appalachian State, Georgia Southern and others.

DeMatto hopes to quickly enroll for the spring to make it onto the 2017 roster but if not, he would then enter ECU this summer with a full complement of four eligibility years starting in the 2018 season.
