Game Week Mode

East Carolina continued to inch toward opening day against North Carolina Central with a pair of workouts Wednesday at Hight Field.
Warm, humid conditions were aided by occasional cloudiness after a thick, Eastern Carolina morning fog burned off during the early portion of the morning session. It included individual and team drills, special teams work and
some offense vs defensive work later in the workout. The team looked sharp and attentive. They continue so show strong conditioning as this camp winds down.
Ruffin McNeill's expectations remain high coming into the season. As he relayed the latest on his ballclub's progress, one can sense the intensity of a philosophy that this team rallies around.
Getting everyone used to the weekly routine is the emphasis right now as the Pirates move into game week routine mode. McNeill continues to keep this team in their preshot routine.
"It is a mock game week. Getting the men ready for a game week as to what we do on a game week will be like as far as what we'll do on game week. I thought we approached it that way and I thought we did it very well."
Coach Ruff goes into further detail about what we can expect for Thursday in what is this team's last week of fall camp before one last scrimmage and the start of classes next week. The season is fast approaching.
"Tomorrow is a Wednesday practice. We still want to expose them to different opponents and we'll start honing in on the first opponent on Sunday night, but these next few days we'll expose them to three or four opponents that we'll see and then get into a particular opponent on Sunday night," McNeill said after Wednesday's fall camp workout, "I'm happy where we are right now and we'll just keep honing in."
The fifth year Pirate head coach says those who were out injured for last Saturday's first scrimmage are back in camp and progressing nicely. It's just a matter of fine tuning before the first game on August 30 at 8 pm in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
