East Carolina picked up a much needed defensive line commitment from Brandon Henderson on Wednesday.

"Extremely grateful to say that I've committed to East Carolina University," Henderson said, "It's not how you start it's how you finish..."

The Georgia Military College product was offered way back in May of last year and he chose the Pirates over a dozen other offers. Phil McGeoghan is credited with is recruitment for East Carolina and head coach Scottie Montgomery turned it up this week in an effort to get Henderson onboard.

At 6-5, 260 Henderson is originally out of Greenwood High in Greenwood, S.C. and he adds to a growing crop of Pirates heading into National Signing Day and will provide experience up front defensively.

Henderson averaged nearly three tackles a game and 32 tackles overall in 2016 with a pair of sacks and a fumble recovery to his credit.

With a 300 bench press, 425 squat lift and 32o clean, Henderson has the potential to be a potent defensive end for the Pirates.

Western Kentucky, Houston, Kansas, Toledo, Marshall, Louisiana-Lafayette and others were in the mix.

With Henderson's commitment, that puts the Pirates at 21 commitments currently for the class of 2017.
