Houston got back on track with a convincing fifty-one point 109-58 win over ECU Sunday afternoon in Houston. The 109 points is an AAC record.

Rob Gray picked up his first double-double with 19 points and 11 assists. Armani Brooks tossed in 21 to lead the Cougars while Corey Davis added 16 points and seven assists in the victory.

B.J. Tyson led ECU with 24 points to go along with 14 from Shawn Williams and 13 points from Isaac Fleming.

A Devin Davis dunk, Galen Robinson’s fast break bucket and Rob Gray’s tenth point of the first half in transition got Houston off and running to a quick 21-5 start. Then a pair of Armani Brooks’ second three-pointer in a row capped a 25-2 run and a 27-5 Houston lead.

An Armani Brooks bomb made it 35-7. Breoaon Brady’s basket in the paint extended the lead to 37-7 before a three-point play from B.J. Tyson finally broke the run at 37-10. Brooks and Davis then took turns torching the Pirates with basket after basket in a 56-12 contest in an 11-0 run with two minutes to play before halftime.

Rob Gray’s pair of assists to Nura Zanna had Houston up by 49 in a 62-13 ballgame at intermission. Armani Brooks scored twenty in the first half to go along with 17 from Rob Gray who also dished out ten first half assists. B.J. Tyson led the Pirates with five points in the first twenty minutes.

Five minutes into the second period, Houston led 75-19. Chris Harris, Jr. scored in the paint to make it 86-32 midway into the second half. Gabe Grant’s three pointer pushed the lead to 92-40 at the seven minute mark.

Houston extended the lead to 109-50 with just under 3:30 to go and the Cougars cruised the rest of the way.
