The Pirates picked up a verbal commitment from 6-0, 215 pound Aaron Ramseur out of Shelby, North Carolina where his Crest High School team won the state 3AA Championship in Chapel Hill.
The Crest High School senior was the defensive MVP in this year's Shrine Bowl of the Carolina's for the victorious North Carolina squad after making 160 tackles and 10 tackles for a loss in 2015.
Ramseur is East Carolina's first commitment in the Scottie Montgomery era in Greenville and was offered just this week by Montgomery's staff.
Ramseur also held an offer from Toledo of the Mid American Conference and as well as a pair of local offers from Appalachian State, Campbell University and Charleston Southern and will play linebacker for the Pirates.
He also received early attention from South Carolina, Wake Forest, Duke and North Carolina.
The commitment puts ECU at 12 verbals for the 2016 class with under a month to go before signing day.
