Chattanooga(Tenn) Notre Dame High cornerback Kareem Orr has announced that he will make his decision this afternoon between the Pirates, Louisville and Middle Tennessee.
The 6-0, 191 pounder has been recruited hard by East Carolina and also holds offers from Cincinnati, Duke, Memphis, Navy, Appalachian State and Western Kentucky.
The Chattanooga prospect talked about his recruiting situation just last month with PirateIllustrated.com, indicating that East Carolina is indeed heavily in the mix.
"I'm working with Bobby Harward and defensive coordinator Rick Smith at ECU. They want me to come there and be the boundary corner," Orr told PI, "I've been down there once already for the spring game."
Orr described his experience while in Greenville back in April.
"I enjoyed myself a lot. I liked the way the defensive backs fly around. I love Coach Ruffin (McNeill) and love the weight room there. They showed me the campus, the buildings and dorms where I would stay. I'll probably go there sometime during the summer," Orr said, "I like East Carolina a lot. The buildings and facilities really stood out to me and I like the campus a lot."
Orr said last month that he might call off the dogs near the end of the summer, but if not he could ride it out until after the season before deciding. In today's recruiting climate, as positions fill up at the various schools, he who waits is lost.
"He has that 'it' factor that's hard to explain, but he just makes plays that a lot of guys can't," Notre Dame coach Charles Fant told the Chattanooga Times Free Press in April, "I always want the kids who play for me to dream big but also to be realistic and have a backup plan. There is no backup plan for Kareem. He has the opportunity to play at the highest level."
East Carolina, Duke and Louisville were the three to watch coming out of Orr receiving an offer from the Cardinals. A day or two later he nabbed an offer from Middle Tennessee and added them to his top list.
The Pirates are in need of a couple of good cornerbacks in this year's class of 2015 and Kareem Orr is right at the top of the list. Stay tuned for more as news breaks here on PirateIllustrated.com.
